George V Basket Hilt of the Scots Fusiliers of Canada


The maker of this sword is J. R. Gaunt & Sons and late Edward Thurkle. The scabbard is a service scabbard and is covered in brown leather.  The grip is ray skin that has been dyed black.

The name engraved on the blade is Captain E. L. Shurly, 1934


S# 17753. The blade is 33 inches long. The basket has a small break on teh right side of the wrist guard and the liner shows quite a bit of wear.

The brown leather on the scabbard shows a little bit of wear.
